The Importance of Pediatric Well-Child Visits

Health TipsSeptember 5, 20245 min readDr. Silvio Goris

Well-child visits are one of the most important things you can do for your child's health. These regular check-ups allow your pediatrician to monitor growth and development, administer necessary vaccinations, and catch potential health issues before they become serious problems.

During a well-child visit, your doctor will measure your child's height and weight, assess developmental milestones, check vision and hearing, update immunizations, and address any behavioral or social concerns. These visits are also an opportunity for parents to ask questions about nutrition, sleep, safety, and any changes they've noticed in their child.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends well-child visits at birth, 3-5 days after birth, then at 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 24, and 30 months, and annually after age 3. Each visit is tailored to your child's age and developmental stage.

At Essen Health Care, our primary care providers are experienced in pediatric care and understand the unique health needs of children in the Bronx. We offer a warm, welcoming environment where families can feel comfortable discussing their concerns. Don't wait—schedule your child's next well-visit today at one of our convenient locations.
