Understanding High Blood Pressure: What Every Patient Should Know
High blood pressure affects nearly half of American adults. Learn about risk factors, symptoms, and how to manage your numbers effectively.
Flu season typically peaks between December and February, but preparation should start in early fall. Getting a flu vaccine is the single most effective step you can take to protect yourself and your family from influenza.
At Essen Health Care, we offer flu vaccinations at all of our locations throughout the Bronx and New York City. The CDC recommends that everyone aged 6 months and older receive an annual flu shot, with special emphasis on high-risk groups including children under 5, adults over 65, pregnant women, and people with chronic medical conditions.
Beyond vaccination, good hygiene practices are your next line of defense. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, avoid touching your face, and stay home if you feel unwell. Regularly disinfect commonly touched surfaces in your home and workplace.
If you do develop flu symptoms—fever, body aches, cough, fatigue—it's important to know when to seek medical care. Most healthy adults can recover at home with rest and fluids, but you should visit an Essen Urgent Care location if you experience difficulty breathing, persistent chest pain, severe vomiting, or if symptoms improve but then return with worsening cough and fever.
